HVC is committed to not only serving our community through servant evangelism, but serving the vast amount of needs of unwanted children in the state of Colorado and abroad. We are actively seeking out ways to help people that desire to grow their families by enabling their pursuit through adoption. We desire to lend a hand to people as they pursue adoption through numerous channels such as internationally, private agency or local state adoptions. Whether it is simply providing meals, clothing or support of their emotional, physical or spiritual needs HVC desires to come alongside adoptive families. We currently have three families, including our Pastor that are considering and or completing the adoption process of children that have been placed in the local or state system. That is why HVC is partnered with Project 1:27. Our desire is to see the facilitation of successful adoptions between Christians in local churches and the children in Colorado Foster Care.

Our partnership with Project 1:27 is a key element of resolving the overwhelming issue of children that are in need of being loved by a safe and caring family. There are currently over seven hundred children in CO that are without the love of a family that they can call their own. Project 1.27 comes from the Biblical passage in James 1:27 which states: "Religion that God our Father considers pure and faultless is this, to look after orphans and widows in their distress and keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27 (NIV). Project 1.27 is not an agency at all, rather it is a ministry. Project 1.27 does not legally place any children, nor do we offer any formal counseling (definition of agency in Colorado). Simply put, Project 1.27 walks along with the parents during their journey into adoption. You can find out more about Project 1:27 at www.project127.com.

As well we want to be able to help birth mothers find a safe environment to legally seek out options to provide for their unborn child. Working hand in hand with Alternatives Pregnancy Center in Denver gives us viable resource for birth mothers. Our state's abortion rate (last statistics available are for 1998 - 7,493 abortions) and the pressures women experience in an unplanned pregnancy are evidence of the need for one-on-one services. Counseling has the greatest impact when a woman first discovers she is pregnant and faces her fear and confusion. It is at this time of crisis when a young girl or woman needs compassionate help from someone who really cares about both her and her baby.
  • For those who see the pregnancy as a "crisis" where the only way out is abortion.
  • For those who are unsure about what to do and need counseling and information.
  • For those who have decided to carry to term and need resources and referrals.
  • For those who have had an abortion and need post-abortion counseling.

In 2001 Alternatives served over 1,000 women and their families with love, hope, compassion and provision. For more information about Alternatives Pregnancy Center go to www.apcdenver.org.
